Start Your Amazing Career
A self-paced course for Muslim women ready to return to work, change careers, or begin one — without leaving your faith or your family behind.
Written and taught by Humaira Jaleel — lawyer, founder of Healthy Muslim Families, and a mother who returned to work after 12 years at home.
I’ve been where you are.
When I moved to Canada after getting married, I left behind a senior IT position and four university degrees. Then came my children — and twelve years at home raising them, on my own terms.
I didn’t set those years aside because I lacked ambition. I set them aside because my family came first. But I also knew that one day I would return — and when I did, I wanted to walk in with confidence, not doubt.
Two years after I began preparing, I was offered a role as Executive Director — before I was even actively looking. A year later, Chief Operating Officer. My first job after twelve years at home was also a brand-new career, nothing like my background in IT.
If I can do it — an immigrant woman, not a native English speaker, with four children — you can too. There is nothing special about me except that I refused to let a career break define what came next.
Empowered Steps: A Muslim Woman’s Guide to Career Success
“Life is a journey of growth, discovery, and purpose. For many Muslim women, this journey includes balancing multiple roles — nurturing families, upholding faith, and contributing meaningfully to society — all while striving to achieve personal and professional goals. Whether you are looking to start a career, return to work after a hiatus, or explore new possibilities, this book is your guide to navigating that path with clarity, confidence, and faith.”
“The world needs your talent, your perspective, and your contribution. Muslim women are uniquely positioned to bring value and insight to every space they enter, whether it’s a boardroom, a classroom, or a creative endeavor. This book is here to remind you: you are enough. You are capable, worthy, and ready to achieve great things — bi-iznillah (by Allah’s permission).”

Turn your skills into a plan — including a no-risk way in
Explore your options, brush up your hard and soft skills, and learn why volunteering can be the lowest-risk first step back in.
Build the toolkit that gets you hired
Your brag bank, elevator pitch, resume and cover letter — including how to talk about a career gap — plus how to read a job posting and prepare for the interview itself.
Build the people and purpose behind your career
Your support system, earning a halal livelihood, and the legacy you want to leave once you’ve rebuilt.

A quick welcome, from me to you
Taught in person to two full cohorts
These three women went through this material in person, before the self-paced version existed. See below what they say about the course.
Now I know that I have to start somewhere. Every step takes me closer to where I want to be.
I loved the activities that made me think and write down my thoughts. It gave me clarity.
Now I work in a non-profit, doing the work that gives me satisfaction.

Faith-integrated, not faith-adjacent
This isn’t secular career coaching with Muslim branding layered on top. Every module is grounded in Islamic principles — tawakkul, halal livelihood guidelines, and the examples of Khadija (RA) and Shifa bint Abdullah — alongside practical, step-by-step career strategy.
You don’t have to choose between your ambition and your faith.

Is this course really self-paced?
Yes. There’s no cohort schedule and no deadlines — go at whatever speed fits your life.
How much time do I need each week?
Each lesson is built to fit around your schedule. Most students spend 20–40 minutes on a lesson, including the exercises.

No. Whether you’re still deciding what’s next, exploring volunteering as a first step, or ready to apply, the modules are ordered to meet you wherever you’re starting from.
Is this course only for Muslim women?
The course is written specifically for Muslim women and grounded in Islamic principles — that’s intentional, not incidental.
